Reisdetails van Noord Afrika
Omschrijving:
A heeft er geen problemen mee, maar ik des te meer: met dat nondescripte jaargetijde tussen nazomer en donkere koude winter in. Natuurlijk zijn er ook zònnige herfstdagen waarop je genietend door multicolor bossen kan struinen, je stappen ruisend in de dikke laag dorre bladeren.
Maar vaker druilt het. Of is de vochtigheidsgraad zo hoog, dat je je in een koude versie van Kuala Lumpure waant. De zon laat zich niet zien, de mist en nevel heersen. Je shawl -toch echt bedoeld om warmte te brengen- wordt koud en klam. Het is aan het einde van de middag nog te licht èn niet koud genoeg om gezellig de haard te stoken, maar mijn handen jeuken!
Gelukkig laten zon, blauwe lucht en aangename temperaturen niet overal in de wereld verstek gaan, vandaar dat we onderweg zijn naar Marokko. Want daar is het goed toeven in de tweede helft van oktober. We vliegen met Royal Air Maroc. Gewoon omdat het leuk is de veiligheidsinstructies en vluchtmededelingen in het arabisch te horen. Omdat op zo'n manier de vakantie al een beetje op Schiphol begint, in plaats van op de luchthaven van bestemming. Omdat de meeste passagiers niet uit Nederland afkomstig zijn en 'mensen kijken' dus hier al een leuke bezigheid is.
We gaan twee weken per huurauto (vooral in de steden met hulp van een gids) rondtrekken door Midden- en Noord Marokko. De vier Koningssteden (Fez, Marrakech, Meknes en Rabat) staan natuurlijk op het programma, maar ook een verblijf in de Sahara en wandeltochten door National Parks. Iedere dag reizen we een stukje verder.
We spreken geen wóórd arabisch, maar gelukkig is frans er de tweede taal. En in de horeca in de steden kun je ook met engels terecht.
We zijn erg benieuwd of we snel een klein beetje 'ingeburgerd' zullen zijn en of we the beaten track kunnen verlaten en het onbekende gaan tegenkomen. We boekten daarom hotelletjes in de oude binnensteden, waar we rond kunnen dwalen (en ongetwijfeld ook zullen vérdwalen, want de stratenplannen van die medina's schijnen net zo onlogisch te zijn als in ons vertrouwde bussumse wijkje 't Spiegel).
In Casablanca stond de marokkaanse lookalike van Sir Humphrey Appleby (de secretaris-generaal van Yes Minister) vanachter zijn balie mij te woord: inderdaad had ik een twin gereserveerd en geen double room, maar er stonden toch ook drie sofa's langs de muur? Die konden toch ook als bed dienen? En dat daar nog geen bed was opgemaakt was eigenlijk om er geen stof op te laten neerdalen, want we waren nogal laat, nietwaar?
En die twee flesje water als genoegdoening voor het ongemak waren met alle plezier uit de ijskast gepakt, maar stonden de volgende dag wel op de rekening.
Toen onze halvedag-gids ook nog eens drie kwartier te laat was begon ik deze dinsdag somber in te zien.
Ten onrechte: de gids was de hele ochtend voortreffelijk en leidde ons onder andere 'skiklas-achtig' (ik houd van onterecht voorrang krijgen) langs de rij bij de ingang naar de op twee na grootste moskee ter wereld, die op een vanuit de zee ingepolderd stuk land is gebouwd: 'Allah plaatste zijn zetel op het water'. Iedere Marokkaan betaalde in de tweede helft van de vorige eeuw mee aan de bouw van het enorme gebouw. Schitterend marmeren vloeren, exquise kleden om op te knielen en ruimte voor 105.000 (honderdenvijfduizend!) gelovigen, die ook echt elke vrijdag langskomen. Niet te bevatten zo groot.
Vlak naast ons lunchterrasje op zo'n typisch mediterraan markthalletje (voortreffelijk gegrilde sardines met tomatensla) rolde een verkoper zijn matten uit. Dacht ik. Tot de oproep tot gebed klonk, en menig winkelhoudend Marokkaan zich aan de rituelen van het gebed ging wijden, met hun neuzen bijna op onze stoelen. Niks handelswaar, die matten.
We zijn inmiddels in een hotelletje middenin de oude stad van Rabat, een van de vier Koningssteden. De route liep langs de noordwestkust, die in hoog tempo wordt volgebouwd met lage appartementengebouwen. En langs schrijnende armoede, krottendorpjes, ezelskarren, boertjes op minuscule stukjes land en heel, heel veel armzalige fruitstalletjes langs de weg.
En het weer? Blauwe lucht, lekker windje, 25 graden. Ik zal er niets meer over zeggen....het was een in alle opzichten heerlijke dag.

Ten onrechte: de gids was de hele ochtend voortreffelijk en leidde ons onder andere 'skiklas-achtig' (ik houd van onterecht voorrang krijgen) langs de rij bij de ingang naar de op twee na grootste moskee ter wereld, die op een vanuit de zee ingepolderd stuk land is gebouwd: 'Allah plaatste zijn zetel op het water'. Iedere Marokkaan betaalde in de tweede helft van de vorige eeuw mee aan de bouw van het enorme gebouw. Schitterend marmeren vloeren, exquise kleden om op te knielen en ruimte voor 105.000 (honderdenvijfduizend!) gelovigen, die ook echt elke vrijdag langskomen. Niet te bevatten zo groot.
Vlak naast ons lunchterrasje op zo'n typisch mediterraan markthalletje (voortreffelijk gegrilde sardines met tomatensla) rolde een verkoper zijn matten uit. Dacht ik. Tot de oproep tot gebed klonk, en menig winkelhoudend Marokkaan zich aan de rituelen van het gebed ging wijden, met hun neuzen bijna op onze stoelen. Niks handelswaar, die matten.
We zijn inmiddels in een hotelletje middenin de oude stad van Rabat, een van de vier Koningssteden. De route liep langs de noordwestkust, die in hoog tempo wordt volgebouwd met lage appartementengebouwen. En langs schrijnende armoede, krottendorpjes, ezelskarren, boertjes op minuscule stukjes land en heel, heel veel armzalige fruitstalletjes langs de weg.
En het weer? Blauwe lucht, lekker windje, 25 graden. Ik zal er niets meer over zeggen....het was een in alle opzichten heerlijke dag.

Omschrijving:
A heeft er geen problemen mee, maar ik des te meer: met dat nondescripte jaargetijde tussen nazomer en donkere koude winter in. Natuurlijk zijn er ook zònnige herfstdagen waarop je genietend door multicolor bossen kan struinen, je stappen ruisend in de dikke laag dorre bladeren.
Maar vaker druilt het. Of is de vochtigheidsgraad zo hoog, dat je je in een koude versie van Kuala Lumpure waant. De zon laat zich niet zien, de mist en nevel heersen. Je shawl -toch echt bedoeld om warmte te brengen- wordt koud en klam. Het is aan het einde van de middag nog te licht èn niet koud genoeg om gezellig de haard te stoken, maar mijn handen jeuken!
Gelukkig laten zon, blauwe lucht en aangename temperaturen niet overal in de wereld verstek gaan, vandaar dat we onderweg zijn naar Marokko. Want daar is het goed toeven in de tweede helft van oktober. We vliegen met Royal Air Maroc. Gewoon omdat het leuk is de veiligheidsinstructies en vluchtmededelingen in het arabisch te horen. Omdat op zo'n manier de vakantie al een beetje op Schiphol begint, in plaats van op de luchthaven van bestemming. Omdat de meeste passagiers niet uit Nederland afkomstig zijn en 'mensen kijken' dus hier al een leuke bezigheid is.
We gaan twee weken per huurauto (vooral in de steden met hulp van een gids) rondtrekken door Midden- en Noord Marokko. De vier Koningssteden (Fez, Marrakech, Meknes en Rabat) staan natuurlijk op het programma, maar ook een verblijf in de Sahara en wandeltochten door National Parks. Iedere dag reizen we een stukje verder.
We spreken geen wóórd arabisch, maar gelukkig is frans er de tweede taal. En in de horeca in de steden kun je ook met engels terecht.
We zijn erg benieuwd of we snel een klein beetje 'ingeburgerd' zullen zijn en of we the beaten track kunnen verlaten en het onbekende gaan tegenkomen. We boekten daarom hotelletjes in de oude binnensteden, waar we rond kunnen dwalen (en ongetwijfeld ook zullen vérdwalen, want de stratenplannen van die medina's schijnen net zo onlogisch te zijn als in ons vertrouwde bussumse wijkje 't Spiegel).
In Casablanca stond de marokkaanse lookalike van Sir Humphrey Appleby (de secretaris-generaal van Yes Minister) vanachter zijn balie mij te woord: inderdaad had ik een twin gereserveerd en geen double room, maar er stonden toch ook drie sofa's langs de muur? Die konden toch ook als bed dienen? En dat daar nog geen bed was opgemaakt was eigenlijk om er geen stof op te laten neerdalen, want we waren nogal laat, nietwaar?
En die twee flesje water als genoegdoening voor het ongemak waren met alle plezier uit de ijskast gepakt, maar stonden de volgende dag wel op de rekening.
Toen onze halvedag-gids ook nog eens drie kwartier te laat was begon ik deze dinsdag somber in te zien.
Ten onrechte: de gids was de hele ochtend voortreffelijk en leidde ons onder andere 'skiklas-achtig' (ik houd van onterecht voorrang krijgen) langs de rij bij de ingang naar de op twee na grootste moskee ter wereld, die op een vanuit de zee ingepolderd stuk land is gebouwd: 'Allah plaatste zijn zetel op het water'. Iedere Marokkaan betaalde in de tweede helft van de vorige eeuw mee aan de bouw van het enorme gebouw. Schitterend marmeren vloeren, exquise kleden om op te knielen en ruimte voor 105.000 (honderdenvijfduizend!) gelovigen, die ook echt elke vrijdag langskomen. Niet te bevatten zo groot.
Vlak naast ons lunchterrasje op zo'n typisch mediterraan markthalletje (voortreffelijk gegrilde sardines met tomatensla) rolde een verkoper zijn matten uit. Dacht ik. Tot de oproep tot gebed klonk, en menig winkelhoudend Marokkaan zich aan de rituelen van het gebed ging wijden, met hun neuzen bijna op onze stoelen. Niks handelswaar, die matten.
We zijn inmiddels in een hotelletje middenin de oude stad van Rabat, een van de vier Koningssteden. De route liep langs de noordwestkust, die in hoog tempo wordt volgebouwd met lage appartementengebouwen. En langs schrijnende armoede, krottendorpjes, ezelskarren, boertjes op minuscule stukjes land en heel, heel veel armzalige fruitstalletjes langs de weg.
En het weer? Blauwe lucht, lekker windje, 25 graden. Ik zal er niets meer over zeggen....het was een in alle opzichten heerlijke dag.

Reisdetails van Noord Afrika
Omschrijving:
A heeft er geen problemen mee, maar ik des te meer: met dat nondescripte jaargetijde tussen nazomer en donkere koude winter in. Natuurlijk zijn er ook zònnige herfstdagen waarop je genietend door multicolor bossen kan struinen, je stappen ruisend in de dikke laag dorre bladeren.
Maar vaker druilt het. Of is de vochtigheidsgraad zo hoog, dat je je in een koude versie van Kuala Lumpure waant. De zon laat zich niet zien, de mist en nevel heersen. Je shawl -toch echt bedoeld om warmte te brengen- wordt koud en klam. Het is aan het einde van de middag nog te licht èn niet koud genoeg om gezellig de haard te stoken, maar mijn handen jeuken!
Gelukkig laten zon, blauwe lucht en aangename temperaturen niet overal in de wereld verstek gaan, vandaar dat we onderweg zijn naar Marokko. Want daar is het goed toeven in de tweede helft van oktober. We vliegen met Royal Air Maroc. Gewoon omdat het leuk is de veiligheidsinstructies en vluchtmededelingen in het arabisch te horen. Omdat op zo'n manier de vakantie al een beetje op Schiphol begint, in plaats van op de luchthaven van bestemming. Omdat de meeste passagiers niet uit Nederland afkomstig zijn en 'mensen kijken' dus hier al een leuke bezigheid is.
We gaan twee weken per huurauto (vooral in de steden met hulp van een gids) rondtrekken door Midden- en Noord Marokko. De vier Koningssteden (Fez, Marrakech, Meknes en Rabat) staan natuurlijk op het programma, maar ook een verblijf in de Sahara en wandeltochten door National Parks. Iedere dag reizen we een stukje verder.
We spreken geen wóórd arabisch, maar gelukkig is frans er de tweede taal. En in de horeca in de steden kun je ook met engels terecht.

Reisdetails van Noord Afrika
Omschrijving:
A heeft er geen problemen mee, maar ik des te meer: met dat nondescripte jaargetijde tussen nazomer en donkere koude winter in. Natuurlijk zijn er ook zònnige herfstdagen waarop je genietend door multicolor bossen kan struinen, je stappen ruisend in de dikke laag dorre bladeren.
Maar vaker druilt het. Of is de vochtigheidsgraad zo hoog, dat je je in een koude versie van Kuala Lumpure waant. De zon laat zich niet zien, de mist en nevel heersen. Je shawl -toch echt bedoeld om warmte te brengen- wordt koud en klam. Het is aan het einde van de middag nog te licht èn niet koud genoeg om gezellig de haard te stoken, maar mijn handen jeuken!
Gelukkig laten zon, blauwe lucht en aangename temperaturen niet overal in de wereld verstek gaan, vandaar dat we onderweg zijn naar Marokko. Want daar is het goed toeven in de tweede helft van oktober. We vliegen met Royal Air Maroc. Gewoon omdat het leuk is de veiligheidsinstructies en vluchtmededelingen in het arabisch te horen. Omdat op zo'n manier de vakantie al een beetje op Schiphol begint, in plaats van op de luchthaven van bestemming. Omdat de meeste passagiers niet uit Nederland afkomstig zijn en 'mensen kijken' dus hier al een leuke bezigheid is.
We gaan twee weken per huurauto (vooral in de steden met hulp van een gids) rondtrekken door Midden- en Noord Marokko. De vier Koningssteden (Fez, Marrakech, Meknes en Rabat) staan natuurlijk op het programma, maar ook een verblijf in de Sahara en wandeltochten door National Parks. Iedere dag reizen we een stukje verder.
We spreken geen wóórd arabisch, maar gelukkig is frans er de tweede taal. En in de horeca in de steden kun je ook met engels terecht.
We zijn erg benieuwd of we snel een klein beetje 'ingeburgerd' zullen zijn en of we the beaten track kunnen verlaten en het onbekende gaan tegenkomen. We boekten daarom hotelletjes in de oude binnensteden, waar we rond kunnen dwalen (en ongetwijfeld ook zullen vérdwalen, want de stratenplannen van die medina's schijnen net zo onlogisch te zijn als in ons vertrouwde bussumse wijkje 't Spiegel).
In Casablanca stond de marokkaanse lookalike van Sir Humphrey Appleby (de secretaris-generaal van Yes Minister) vanachter zijn balie mij te woord: inderdaad had ik een twin gereserveerd en geen double room, maar er stonden toch ook drie sofa's langs de muur? Die konden toch ook als bed dienen? En dat daar nog geen bed was opgemaakt was eigenlijk om er geen stof op te laten neerdalen, want we waren nogal laat, nietwaar?
En die twee flesje water als genoegdoening voor het ongemak waren met alle plezier uit de ijskast gepakt, maar stonden de volgende dag wel op de rekening.
Toen onze halvedag-gids ook nog eens drie kwartier te laat was begon ik deze dinsdag somber in te zien.
Ten onrechte: de gids was de hele ochtend voortreffelijk en leidde ons onder andere 'skiklas-achtig' (ik houd van onterecht voorrang krijgen) langs de rij bij de ingang naar de op twee na grootste moskee ter wereld, die op een vanuit de zee ingepolderd stuk land is gebouwd: 'Allah plaatste zijn zetel op het water'. Iedere Marokkaan betaalde in de tweede helft van de vorige eeuw mee aan de bouw van het enorme gebouw. Schitterend marmeren vloeren, exquise kleden om op te knielen en ruimte voor 105.000 (honderdenvijfduizend!) gelovigen, die ook echt elke vrijdag langskomen. Niet te bevatten zo groot.
Vlak naast ons lunchterrasje op zo'n typisch mediterraan markthalletje (voortreffelijk gegrilde sardines met tomatensla) rolde een verkoper zijn matten uit. Dacht ik. Tot de oproep tot gebed klonk, en menig winkelhoudend Marokkaan zich aan de rituelen van het gebed ging wijden, met hun neuzen bijna op onze stoelen. Niks handelswaar, die matten.
We zijn inmiddels in een hotelletje middenin de oude stad van Rabat, een van de vier Koningssteden. De route liep langs de noordwestkust, die in hoog tempo wordt volgebouwd met lage appartementengebouwen. En langs schrijnende armoede, krottendorpjes, ezelskarren, boertjes op minuscule stukjes land en heel, heel veel armzalige fruitstalletjes langs de weg.

[description] => A heeft er geen problemen mee, maar ik des te meer: met dat nondescripte jaargetijde tussen nazomer en donkere koude winter in. Natuurlijk zijn er ook zònnige herfstdagen waarop je genietend door multicolor bossen kan struinen, je stappen ruisend in de dikke laag dorre bladeren.
Maar vaker druilt het. Of is de vochtigheidsgraad zo hoog, dat je je in een koude versie van Kuala Lumpure waant. De zon laat zich niet zien, de mist en nevel heersen. Je shawl -toch echt bedoeld om warmte te brengen- wordt koud en klam. Het is aan het einde van de middag nog te licht èn niet koud genoeg om gezellig de haard te stoken, maar mijn handen jeuken!
Gelukkig laten zon, blauwe lucht en aangename temperaturen niet overal in de wereld verstek gaan, vandaar dat we onderweg zijn naar Marokko. Want daar is het goed toeven in de tweede helft van oktober. We vliegen met Royal Air Maroc. Gewoon omdat het leuk is de veiligheidsinstructies en vluchtmededelingen in het arabisch te horen. Omdat op zo'n manier de vakantie al een beetje op Schiphol begint, in plaats van op de luchthaven van bestemming. Omdat de meeste passagiers niet uit Nederland afkomstig zijn en 'mensen kijken' dus hier al een leuke bezigheid is.
We gaan twee weken per huurauto (vooral in de steden met hulp van een gids) rondtrekken door Midden- en Noord Marokko. De vier Koningssteden (Fez, Marrakech, Meknes en Rabat) staan natuurlijk op het programma, maar ook een verblijf in de Sahara en wandeltochten door National Parks. Iedere dag reizen we een stukje verder.
We spreken geen wóórd arabisch, maar gelukkig is frans er de tweede taal. En in de horeca in de steden kun je ook met engels terecht.
We zijn erg benieuwd of we snel een klein beetje 'ingeburgerd' zullen zijn en of we the beaten track kunnen verlaten en het onbekende gaan tegenkomen. We boekten daarom hotelletjes in de oude binnensteden, waar we rond kunnen dwalen (en ongetwijfeld ook zullen vérdwalen, want de stratenplannen van die medina's schijnen net zo onlogisch te zijn als in ons vertrouwde bussumse wijkje 't Spiegel).
In Casablanca stond de marokkaanse lookalike van Sir Humphrey Appleby (de secretaris-generaal van Yes Minister) vanachter zijn balie mij te woord: inderdaad had ik een twin gereserveerd en geen double room, maar er stonden toch ook drie sofa's langs de muur? Die konden toch ook als bed dienen? En dat daar nog geen bed was opgemaakt was eigenlijk om er geen stof op te laten neerdalen, want we waren nogal laat, nietwaar?
En die twee flesje water als genoegdoening voor het ongemak waren met alle plezier uit de ijskast gepakt, maar stonden de volgende dag wel op de rekening.
Toen onze halvedag-gids ook nog eens drie kwartier te laat was begon ik deze dinsdag somber in te zien.
Ten onrechte: de gids was de hele ochtend voortreffelijk en leidde ons onder andere 'skiklas-achtig' (ik houd van onterecht voorrang krijgen) langs de rij bij de ingang naar de op twee na grootste moskee ter wereld, die op een vanuit de zee ingepolderd stuk land is gebouwd: 'Allah plaatste zijn zetel op het water'. Iedere Marokkaan betaalde in de tweede helft van de vorige eeuw mee aan de bouw van het enorme gebouw. Schitterend marmeren vloeren, exquise kleden om op te knielen en ruimte voor 105.000 (honderdenvijfduizend!) gelovigen, die ook echt elke vrijdag langskomen. Niet te bevatten zo groot.
Vlak naast ons lunchterrasje op zo'n typisch mediterraan markthalletje (voortreffelijk gegrilde sardines met tomatensla) rolde een verkoper zijn matten uit. Dacht ik. Tot de oproep tot gebed klonk, en menig winkelhoudend Marokkaan zich aan de rituelen van het gebed ging wijden, met hun neuzen bijna op onze stoelen. Niks handelswaar, die matten.
We zijn inmiddels in een hotelletje middenin de oude stad van Rabat, een van de vier Koningssteden. De route liep langs de noordwestkust, die in hoog tempo wordt volgebouwd met lage appartementengebouwen. En langs schrijnende armoede, krottendorpjes, ezelskarren, boertjes op minuscule stukjes land en heel, heel veel armzalige fruitstalletjes langs de weg.
En het weer? Blauwe lucht, lekker windje, 25 graden. Ik zal er niets meer over zeggen....het was een in alle opzichten heerlijke dag.
